GUN CONTROL - This seems to be a no brainer for me. If all firearms are banned or any type of firearm is banned and forbidden to be owned by responsible Americans then the only people in America that will have guns are criminals. Period.
The fact is, there will always be lunatics intent on killing people and if not with a gun, then with a knife or a bomb or whatever else they can get their hands on and use as a weapon, including chemicals.
**Guns are not the problem, selling guns and ammunition without intense background checks is a problem.
**Allowing mentally ill people to purchase guns and ammunition, allowing them to have access to guns and ammunition, is a problem.
**Parents not having a pulse on what's happening in their homes, not talking with their children, monitoring their children, parenting their children, is a problem!
I have no issues with responsible adults owning assault rifles. Home invasions typically have 2-3 criminals busting down your door. I'm a single mom. Trust me that little Barney Fife 6 shooter isn't going to work for me (or for anyone else.) Do the math. Three assailants, six bullets. Think about the element of surprise, the jacked up criminals, you being scared shitless and first and foremost, protecting your family. Would you be able to accurately shoot all three assailants with just six bullets? And what if one or all decided to charge you while you're standing there holding your little pistol? I'm pretty sure if you were holding an assault rifle there would be no charging, in fact after a few moments there would be no movement at all, and yeah, I would do that for my family. Am I advocating for assault rifles, bazookas and machine guns?
No, but I am advocating for the 2nd Amendment of the United States Constitution -
"A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed."
That being said, I still believe our - we, the people - greatest weapon is education.

Great post, and I definitely agree with you on the gun control. :) Honey boo boo's mother is a good example why wild animals cull their litters. :) IMO TLC is a non profit channel and get donations for their programming. I couldn't agree more with what you said. outlawing guns will not get rid of them, they will merely be sold on the black market. Even over here, it's so cheap for a couple of school boys to pool their pocket money together and get one from someone in the know.
Rigorous background checks and education, are what's needed.

I just don't know why those idiots we have in Washington D.C. can't see the grave error they would be committing by banning guns in this country, which by the way, is in part, why we have the 2nd Amendment. And the whole Honey Boo Boo thing, good question, I have no idea why they're on t.v., they just totally gross me out..

@J.R. - I know because criminals don't follow the laws of the land, that's why they're criminals. Ugh. It's just common sense and thank you.. And double, triple, quadruple ugh on Honey Boo Boo. I can't even watch for a nano second and the sound of their voices.. Oh my gosh.. I know some of the sweetest, wonderful, well spoken southern people and this Honey Boo Boo mess is just such a misrepresentation of the good southern people. I can't believe they have a show. If that's the case I want my own show, what the hell?!
Well said, and I'm impressed that all of the other commenters agree with you, too. Just last week, there was a home invasion in our county. Long story short, after the man used a crowbar to bust through several doors, he found the hiding 30-something mother and her 9-year-old twins. But she was ready for him. Shot him. Fired six times, and hit him five. If she wouldn't have had that gun, what would have happened to her and her children?
@Susan - Thank you and I was pretty surprised at the supportive comments as well. That gives me hope.. And I saw that and posted the video. That woman did a phenomenal job and that whole situation begs the question, what if there had been more than one assailant?? *This* is when an assault rifle would be needed. One lone idiot is seldom the normal, they usually travel in packs and I absolutely believe we, the people, have the right to protect ourselves. - Thanks for stopping by Susan. :)
Agree 100% on the gun post! Our state just had a meeting last week about issuing guns to all teachers and principles, I'm all for it even though I no longer have children in public school. I just keep thinking how many lives could have been saved in the past if a teacher had a gun.
I went to the mall the day after we had a shooting there that killed or injured six people. I was so on guard looking all around me, I would have made any SWAT team proud that day! I decided it was time to go when I realized half the people I saw looked like crazed gunmen to me.
As for Honey Boo-Boo what can you expect out of a family where Mom is called Mama or Junebug, Dad is Sugar Bear, one sister is 17 and pregnant, she is called ChickaDee, the other sister is called Pumpkin and one is called Chubbs. There is also an Uncle Poodle, because he is gay and Honey Boo Boo calls all gay people poodles. The new baby was born with two thumbs and Dad Sugar Bear calls it a "Swiss Army Knife". I have watched the show and do have to admit even though it's a trainwreck I find it hilarious. I do admire the fact that the family, who obviously needs it turned down two new houses one offered by Oprah and one by TLC, saying they were happy where they were. I am not of fan of kids beauty pageants in the first place but this kid seems to go out of her way to offend and them expecting her to be Miss America someday just tells me they operate on limited intelligence, all of them.
