I finished embellishing the first 3 blocks of the quilt and I'm quite happy with the way they turned out. But first I must share the latest of my greatest. My grandsons. Seth in the 1st grade. Aidan in kindergarten. I do so love these lit'l ones. They are most definitely the keepers of my soul.
Onto the embellished quilt blocks. I've put them in "Before & After" photos so you can see what I did, and so I can see what I did! Confession, I have a tendency to go all OCD on myself after the fact. I look at my blocks and think of a million things I could have done, and then take note of what I'll do in another block. I don't really obsess too awfully bad. I spend a moment, take a note and move on. It's a quilt.
Block 1 - Left side
Block 2 - Center
Block 3 - Right side
And the connected blocks.
All of the quilting and edge stitching will be done after the rest of the quilt top is done, embellished and pinned to the quilt batting and quilt back.
I have no idea where these 3 blocks will fall in the quilt, could be the top line, could be somewhere in the middle. I never know. I do however have the material ready for the next phase of this quilt. I'll be using old
t-shirts and sweats outfits. Mostly blues. I have an idea of the type of quilting I want to do, something with lots of stripes but we'll see what comes about.
I am so happy I chose creativity for my word of the year because I am really enjoying myself. My lit'l sis called me today and asked me to make her a make up bag so I am off to find some material for that!
I hope whatever you're doing today - and have been doing for the past couple of days - has brought you happiness and joy. If not, try being creative! Just let it blow through you like a whipping winter wind or a gusty spring day!!

one of my best friends is a quilter and she's making quilts for each of her two daughters -- one square each year to commemorate their age. I guess it will be finsihed when they graduate HS:)
